Post-doc: Community-based Research

The Trent Community Research Centre (TCRC) is seeking applications for a 12-month postdoctoral fellow in the practices and techniques of community-based research (CBR).

This full-time fellowship contributes to the Community First: Impact of Community Engagement (CFICE) research project and would aim to improve, refine and further develop best practices for the coordination of research projects that develop out of community need, and are undertaken by Trent University graduate and undergraduate students. This position is intended to support the twenty-year legacy of the TCRC.

The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to:

  • Conduct academic research on the field of CBR and how it is currently carried out with the intent of reporting on how the TCRC methods and practices are positioned in this context;
  • Be an active participant in CBR project coordination with Trent undergraduate and graduate students who are working on projects in the social sciences, environmental science and the humanities. It is intended that the fellow would provide direct project support for community agencies and Trent students in 10-12 TCRC projects; and
  • Develop, carry out and report on a series of evaluations of the existing methods and practices of the TCRC.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to, and experience with, community-based research and methods. Knowledge of the Peterborough community is an advantage.
